Melanie & Luca's Romantic Spain Destination Wedding

When Melanie and Luca began planning their destination wedding in Southern Spain, they knew they wanted every detail to feel authentic to their love story, their cultures, and the stunning setting surrounding them. From vibrant florals inspired by Andalusia to heartfelt private vows and a dream wedding dress found through RashawnRose Bridal, their celebration was a beautiful reflection of who they are as a couple.
A Love Story That Started on the Water
Melanie and Luca first met in May 2019 during a boat day in Fort Lauderdale with mutual friends. Melanie almost skipped the outing but decided to honor a New Year's resolution to say "yes" more often. That decision changed everything.
The two were instantly drawn to one another and spent the afternoon talking, laughing, and getting to know each other away from the rest of the group. What began as a chance meeting quickly turned into a lasting connection built on shared values, adventure, and a love for the outdoors.
Today, the couple shares a life filled with boating, travel, home renovation projects, and time spent with their beloved senior dog, Darby.
Bringing Spain to Life
Because Melanie's parents are Spaniards who were raised in Venezuela, choosing Spain as their wedding destination felt deeply personal. With nearly all of their guests traveling from the United States, the couple wanted to create an experience that fully embraced the beauty and culture of Southern Spain.
Their venue provided the perfect backdrop, and they intentionally designed every detail to complement the surrounding landscape. Bright pink, coral, and orange florals were inspired by Melanie's favorite flower, bougainvillea, which blooms throughout the coastal towns of Andalusia. Blue-and-white tile motifs appeared throughout the stationery, signage, menus, and table décor, creating a distinctly Spanish atmosphere that felt both elegant and authentic.
Finding "The One" at RashawnRose Bridal
Like many brides, Melanie entered the dress-shopping process with a clear vision. She thought she wanted a simple, sleek gown, but everything changed when her maid of honor pulled a lace gown, Melrose by Milla Nova, from the rack and encouraged her to try it on.
The moment she stepped into the dress, she knew it was special.
The gown featured so many of the elements she loved: a square neckline, corset bodice, Basque waist, A-line silhouette, and supportive straps that would allow her to dance comfortably all night long.
Unfortunately, after falling in love with the gown, Melanie was told by another bridal salon that it would be impossible to receive the dress in time for her wedding.
Determined not to give up, she began researching bridal boutiques that carried Milla Nova gowns. That's when she came across RashawnRose Bridal, a boutique she already knew well because her sister had purchased her wedding dress there seven years earlier.
"When I called RashawnRose Bridal, they remembered both me and my sister and immediately jumped in to help," Melanie shared. "They were incredibly communicative and worked hard to rush order my gown."
"It truly felt like it was meant to be."
A Wedding Filled With Meaning
Throughout the planning process, Melanie and Luca focused on creating a wedding that felt authentic rather than traditional.
Instead of choosing a classic slow song for their first dance, they selected "Volare" by Gipsy Kings as a tribute to both their Spanish and Italian heritage. They incorporated music they genuinely loved, personalized every detail, and made decisions based on what felt right for them, not what others expected.
Their advice to future couples?
"Do what makes sense for you and forget about tradition, expectations, and the way things 'should' be done."
Favorite Wedding Day Moments
For Luca, seeing Melanie during their first look was a moment he had dreamed about for years.
"The moment the doors opened and I saw her, I was filled with happiness and joy that I had never felt before."
For Melanie, one of the most memorable moments came later in the day. Although the couple had planned to exchange private vows before the ceremony, the wedding day schedule had other plans.
After the ceremony and cocktail hour, they finally found a quiet moment alone together and read their vows privately.
"It was such a heartfelt and special moment. We both cried, and it reminded us that there is no perfect timeline for a wedding day. Whatever happens naturally becomes part of your story."
Looking Back
When asked what marriage means to them, both Melanie and Luca shared heartfelt reflections centered around partnership, trust, and building a meaningful life together.
Their wedding day was a celebration of family, culture, adventure, and authenticity. Melanie's dream gown from RashawnRose Bridal was part of making that vision come to life.
We are honored to have played a small role in Melanie and Luca's incredible journey and wish them a lifetime of love, happiness, and unforgettable adventures together.
